UPDATED 4/9/2008: The maintenance dredging on the western interior channel and mouth of the channel has been completed. REPORTED AT THE CITY COMMISSION MEETING HELD ON MARCH 25, 2008 THE DREDGING ACTIVITIES WERE TO BE COMPLETED BY APRIL 9, 2008. HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE THE DREDGING HAS BEEN DELAYED DUE TO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. SAID REPAIRS WILL CAUSE THE CONTRACTORS TO BE INACTIVE DURING REPAIRS FOR APPROXIMATELY 8 DAYS. "Modern Venice" Subdivision, also known
as the "Fingers", of Port Isabel was developed during the
1930s when Port Isabel had just incorporated and was "building a city
where a city belongs". Modern Venice is a unique location in a unique
community. Presently, the western portion of the subdivision is experiencing
new development and the eastern portion will soon be undergoing improvements.
